Monitoring alerts are separate from cost anomaly alerts. Anomaly alerts watch daily spend spikes; monitoring alerts fire after your scheduled waste re-scans when Parsivex finds new findings or confirmed fixes since the previous scan.
Who receives monitoring alerts
Monitoring alerts are available on paid plans with recurring scans. That includes Monitoring and Team subscribers.
| Channel | Plans |

| Monitoring, Team | |
| Slack | Team only |
Email is enabled automatically on Monitoring and Team plans — there is no separate toggle. Slack requires a webhook URL in Settings → Alerts; see Setting up Slack alerts.
Managing alert recipients in the app
Open Settings → Alerts in the Parsivex app to manage who receives each email category.
- Alert recipients lists every workspace member plus any external addresses added on the Team plan.
- Each row shows five toggles: Scan results, Monitoring, Anomalies, Updates, and Onboarding. Workspace members control their own toggles. Team-plan admins can also adjust toggles for verified external recipients they added.
- Onboarding covers signup-related emails such as the one-time activation reminder sent when a workspace has no AWS connection after a few days. Disabling it does not affect scan-complete or monitoring alert emails.
- Add recipient (Team plan) sends a one-time verification email. Pending addresses show ⏳ pending and do not receive alerts until the link is confirmed.
- External recipients can be removed with Remove. Pending invites can be Resend if the verification email expired.
- If your account downgrades from Team, verified external recipients remain listed but stop receiving alert email until you re-upgrade. Workspace members continue to receive alerts on paid plans. Delivery to externals resumes automatically when you return to the Team plan — no need to re-verify addresses.
Recipients receive alerts only — they do not use a seat and cannot log in to Parsivex.
On the free plan, scan-complete emails are included. Monitoring and Anomalies toggles require a paid plan; the settings page explains which categories are available on your plan.
Who receives email alerts
By default, every workspace member receives monitoring and anomaly alert emails for each workspace they belong to.
On the Team plan, admins can also add external alert recipients — email addresses for people who are not workspace members (for example, a finance lead or on-call alias). External recipients:
- Do not use a seat and cannot log in to Parsivex
- Must click a one-time verification link before receiving any alert email
- Are limited to 10 per account (shared across all workspaces)
- Stop receiving alerts if the account leaves the Team plan (they remain listed in settings and resume delivery on re-upgrade)
See Inviting team members for how alert recipients differ from team seats.
When alerts are sent
Parsivex sends a monitoring alert when all of these are true:
- Your scan completes successfully
- Your account has recurring scans (a paid monitoring subscription)
- This is a follow-up scan — not your first scan on the plan
Your first successful scan on a monitoring plan sends a one-time scan complete email with your full savings report. Monitoring-style delta alerts begin on the second and subsequent scans, when Parsivex can compare findings to the previous month's check.
If a scan fails, no monitoring alert is sent. Parsivex may email you separately about the failure so you can retry.
What the email contains
Monitoring emails compare this scan to your previous monitoring scan:
New waste
When new findings appear, the subject line highlights the additional monthly waste — for example, $120/month in new AWS waste detected. The body lists up to three top new findings with estimated monthly savings.
Resolved savings
When findings you fixed disappear between scans, Parsivex includes a Fixed since last scan section. Each resolved finding shows its type and monthly savings. The email also references your cumulative realized savings total.
You can receive a resolutions-only email even when no new waste was found — for example, You fixed $85/month of AWS waste ✓.
Clean bill of health
If no new waste was detected and nothing resolved, the email confirms your account looks clean: Your AWS infrastructure looks clean this month.
Every monitoring email includes a View Full Report link to your latest scan report when you are a workspace member who can log in to Parsivex. External alert recipients (Team plan addresses that are not workspace members) receive the alert summary only — no login-required link, because they cannot access the app dashboard or reports.
Slack monitoring messages
If your workspace has a Slack webhook configured and your account is on the Team plan, Parsivex posts a monitoring message to your channel at the same time as the email.
Slack messages include:
- A headline with new waste amount and finding count (or a clean-bill message when nothing new appeared)
- A resolutions summary when findings were fixed since the last scan
- The top new finding title and savings estimate
- A View Report button linking to your report in the Parsivex app (login required)
Monitoring Slack messages are distinct from daily cost anomaly Slack alerts, which fire on spend spikes rather than waste scan deltas.
No alert floods
Parsivex sends at most one monitoring notification per scan per channel. Email and Slack for the same scan are dispatched together; there is no per-finding email storm.
For daily anomaly alerts, Parsivex batches all spikes for an AWS connection into one email and one Slack message per day. You will not receive duplicate notifications if the same day's data is checked again.
Unsubscribing from email
Monitoring, anomaly, scan-complete, product-update, and onboarding emails each include an Unsubscribe link in the footer. The link opens a confirmation page on parsivex.com — your preference is not changed until you confirm. This protects you from mail clients that prefetch links before you open the message.
You can unsubscribe from just the email type you clicked (for example, monitoring alerts only) or from all alert and product emails for that workspace. Preferences are per person — unsubscribing does not affect other workspace members or alert recipients.
Unsubscribing does not affect:
- In-app anomaly data on your dashboard
- Transactional emails such as scan-failure notices or team invites
Unsubscribe links expire 30 days after they are sent. Request a fresh link from your latest alert email if an older link no longer works.
Managing preferences in the app
Workspace members can turn individual email categories on or off in Settings → Alerts in the Parsivex app. Each person controls their own preferences independently. Team-plan admins can add external recipients and manage their category toggles after verification.
See Email and Slack monitoring alerts for a full walkthrough of the recipient list.
Slack delivery
Slack messages have no unsubscribe link — disconnect the webhook in Settings → Alerts to stop Slack delivery.
